Use and synthesis of nystatin

 

Polyene antifungins

Nystatin is a kind of polyene antifungicin with conjugated polyene macrolide structure, which can inhibit the activity of fungi, but can be used for Chemicalbook without inhibition to bacteria. Nystatin binds to sterols on fungal cell membranes and causes changes in cell membrane permeability, resulting in leakage of important cell contents and plays an antifungal role.

Yellow or yellowish brown powder, with special odor and moisture-inducing properties. Slightly soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, insoluble in acetone, ether and chloroform. Nystatin is unstable to air, light, heat, water, acid or base.

 

Action mechanism

Nystatin can bind to sterols on the fungal cell membrane, so that the permeability of the cell membrane changes, resulting in the leakage of important intracellular substances, so as to play an antifungal role.
